About Me

Sumit Ghag is a Mumbai based photographer who has built an expertise in the fashion genre. To create images that are powerful and aesthetically appealing is what he is passionate about. His work spans across distinct structural pillars in photography, leaning heavily into high-concept styling, bold commercial imagery and abstract fine art.

 

Starting his journey for photography at just 16 years old, learning the baseline physics of light and composition out in nature. He later honed these technical instincts into professional-grade execution at the Symbiosis School of Photography (SSP). His time acquiring a Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) degree there allowed him to merge classic design principles with the highly demanding, fast-paced world of commercial fashion.

Ghag's signature style frequently blends the raw textures of natural environments with abstract, meticulously lit human portraiture.
Because of his background in fine arts, he treats his commercial and editorial subjects with a strong emphasis on geometry, striking contrast and surreal color palettes. He is known for using dramatic lighting frameworks to create depth and motion within single, still frames.

Having worked with magazines like Huf, Solstice, Afrostyle, Elléments, Jute, he also collaborated with brands like the Jio Indian Premier League, GooglePay, Intel, HP, Whoop, Condé Nast India, Vogue, Flipkart, Falguni Shane Peacock, Westside, Ajio to name a few.

With an idea of expanding his horizons, he has now set out to create, explore and capture photographs with an unparalleled vision.
